Graduate Counseling Intern
Zach is currently in the final stages of earning his master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through Concordia University Irvine’s Townsend Institute. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Theology from Concordia University Chicago, and has a background in higher education and ministry.
Zach provides individual and couples counseling, addressing the needs of each client using a psychodynamic, attachment focused, strengths-based approach to help them achieve the growth, change, or goals they seek. He also incorporates EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) and IFS (Internal Family Systems) in his practice. He is open to working with individuals and couples, teens and adults, with clinical interests in depression, anxiety, addiction, trauma, personal growth and change, improving relationships, life transitions, and men’s issues. He is happy to integrate a client’s faith into their work if they choose.
Zach’s approach relies on connection, collaboration, and encouragement to foster growth and healing. He believes in treating the source of one’s struggles rather than just the symptoms. By evaluating the presenting problems in light of each individual’s unique developmental experiences, attachment wounds, and family system, Zach believes we can better understand, respect, and have grace for who we are in the here and now while striving to become who we want to be. He is also interested in exploring the role that values play in decision making and the healing process.
Outside of work, Zach spends his time with his wife, son, and dog. He is an avid reader, enjoys watching and playing hockey, biking, and sampling local coffee roasters.
